Look for me in Cooking Light

I received a request last week from Cooking Light to use one of my Facebook comments about how to get in your recommended 5 servings of fruits and vegetables a day in their magazine. Then they asked for a headshot to go along with it. Thankfully, my friend Joanna took some of us earlier in the summer, so I was able to purchase the digital rights from her and send one along. :-) I'm guessing that it'll be the next issue to come out in January. I have a subscription, so I'll let you know when I know. Not that it's that illuminating of a conversation. Just that it'll be weird to see me in a national publication.

In other news, I did the Run for the Library 5k last weekend in Mahomet. I am excited that I ran it only 10 seconds slower than last year. This is good for someone whose only been running again since September. I looked back in my records and I was running 5 days a week then -- up to 25 miles a week. Now with my back, I'm not up to that kind of mileage. Instead, I've been running 3 times a week and doing other kinds of workouts via Tae Kwon Do, Body Bar classes, Boot camp classes, bike riding and swimming. I haven't had any back pain (knock on wood) in several weeks. And when I run, I do short runs in my bare feet or Vibrams and long runs in my shoes to give my back some relief.

Last weekend, I went up to Rockford to see my friend KAP. She was my best friend in high school and she resides in Arizona now. I hadn't seen her since LL's smallest was born. This weekend, KTDID and I are headed over to Peoria to visit a college friend who is visiting there from Des Moines. We're only going for the afternoon, but it'll be nice to have some girl time.

Tomorrow, MacTroll and I are trying to find time to go see Morning Glory at the Savoy 16. We've been hitting the movies a lot as a family this month. I took X-man to see Ramona and Beezus and then MacTroll took him to see Despicable Me. We also all went to see Megamind last Friday. Can you tell the weather is changing? Next week, we're going to see if we can get out on Tuesday afternoon to catch the new Harry Potter. And I'm going to the theater the Friday after Thanksgiving to see Love and Other Drugs.

How did X-Man like Megamind? We were thinking about taking the boys to see it this weekend.

It was a lot like Despicable Me... where the bad guy learns through the goodness of a woman that he can be good too. The only time X-man freaked was that the hero at the beginning, MetroMan, fakes his death... so he was really upset when he thought he was dead. Luckily the plot was so guessable, we could assure him that he wasn't dead and that Megamind would be good in the end. MacTroll wondered what would happen if what we told him didn't happen. My response was, "No one pays for Brad Pitt and has him voice a character for 5 minutes and puts him on the billing."
